Visual Language 9

In this session I had to take some aspects from the photographs in the previous week and then take 50 photos incorporating that aspect. I really liked the way that some photos were cropped to show 3 of something even though there were more than 3 of whatever it was. I started out just by using this exact aspect, taking pictures of anything that I could get 3 out of using cropping. I quickly realised that alot of the photos were the same and unless you looked really carefully they rarely looked like a set or even like they shared any value.
Looking back over the photos I found a few where I had cropped words to show only 3 letters and I really liked how those photos looked really similar. At this point I realised that the positioning of the objects within the frame was really important and chose to focus on cropping 3 letters of a word and positioning them on the left hand side of the frame.



I think that this worked really well overall. Some work a lot better than others, usually because of the perspective changing the view of the image asnd the proportions. I really like the way that the image sits in the frame on the right hand side and the contrasting colours of each picture makes them all stand out and clash in a way that I think looks really appealing in a collage kind of way. It is quite obvious that they are a set and share the common aspects of type, 3 letters and format within the frame.
This exercise has definitely taught me alot about hoe important frame is, but also that you have to concentrate on perspective too such as where you are standing when you take the picture, the distance from the object and the height of the photograph.
