Logo Design
I decided that I would probably need some kind of a logo to link any designs together and unify them as a set. This is some of the starting logo design that I quickly sketched out.
Although uninteresting in terms of shape, the most recogniseable logo for a manta ray would have to be the plain top down silhouette.
I think that the designs where the rays body is slightly skewed make much more interesting logos but i'm not sure if they would be represent mantas properly.
The ray in the top right of the page avoids this confusion by literally using the word manta.
Incorporating image and type in to a logo can help to clarify what it is communicating so this could be a possibility for a logo.
I also started looking at the patterns on the underside of a manta which are quite interesting and relatively unique for an animal.
The bottom left design was a quick outline drawing that I did from a photograph which is one of the more interesting designs as well but is not very obvious in communicating a manta ray unless you know that that is what it is.
