We were told to bring in a few different sized boxes each and then we got into smll groups to work in. We started by sticking a viewfinder in position at one end of our table. We were told to create a letterform on the boxes using several different planes of perspective. That means that the boxes were different distances from the viewfinder. We then chose to use the letter H and found an appropriate font (very similar to this one) called Credit Valley.
We started by simply positioning the boxes across the table in an interesting way, making sure the ones at the back were tall enough to hold the top of the H. We then litterally just started cutting the legs of the H and then working on different parts of the letterform, tweaking each part until it worked and using other people in the group to tell you how a box or piece should be moved to work within the viewfinder perspective.
It was a really effective team effort and everyone really worked well to get the letterform completed in the time limit and looking almost exactly like the original.

When we started the session I thought that it would be really difficult, but when we began actually working I realised that it wasn't too hard if we all worked well together. I thought that this work was really good and it taught us all alot about perspective and working with size along distance.
I'm really pleased with the way that this turned out and I think it looks really effective.
Here's a video of the finished thing:
