This is my work for the InDesign brief for Naomi and showing how I got to the final piece.
I decided to work with the theme of Naomi's blog which has recently been changed to this traingular based design in different colours which are actually a lot harder to make than they look. You can see her blog here.
I wanted to re-create the same style and change it slightly so I started by making my own versions of the triangle designs here. I chose blue to work with in the end because I thought it was a nice calm colour to represent Naomi.
I chose this picture to work with because I thought it was a goo representation of Naomi. Shes very happy and smiley which I usually see and also she is wearing her glasses which how I always see Naomi around college.
I drew triangles over different parts of her face with the pen tool.
I then filled in the traingles with different shades of blue to show the shading on her face.
I then started looking at how to place both of the images in InDesign to make them look good. I settled on this design which spreads from the bottom left of the page up to the top. I wanted to keep a good bit of white space in the spread and also wanted the left page to be solely image.
I came up with the idea of connecting the head to the other image directly through triangles and I really liked the way it looked.

I worked with this design and also with the type on the right hand side. I wanted to take the same concept from Naomi's blog; OH HELLO/ MY NAME IS NAOMI/ AND THIS IS WHO I AM.
I changed my version to say 'OH HELLO/ HER NAME IS NAOMI/ AND THIS IS WHO SHE IS.' to give it the impression tha it was written by an outside source.
I then worked with positioning the text. You can read the text by clicking the picture below to make it larger:
I tried to pick up on parts from the orginal interview and also from some of my own knowledge of Naomi.
Here I worked with positioning the type in different places but eventually decided on centering the text in the middle of the right page just under the traingle design.
This is the final design for the double page spread.
