Another character that came up in the idea generating for the forest scenario was the character of a pine tree; the lumberjack's worst enemy. This creates another point in the story to work with which is the battle between the lumberjack and the pine tree. After considering the story, I decided to make the pine tree come to life at some point so that it and the lumberjack have some surreal interaction which spurs on the idea of imagination. So I started coming up with some character development. To start with I just drew a couple of pine trees to try and get the shape right and made a pine tree template shown below.
Next I started thinking about how the pine tree could actually come to life and how I could make it represent something that was alive.
I worked out what kind of mouth it could have, as things with mouths are always alive as far as I am aware. Also I gave it some arms made of branches. Along the bottom of these two pages I have also roughly figured out the key frames that transform it from a tree into a living tree, including legs.
