Comic Brief: Initial Ideas

This brief requires me to create new covers and packaging for a whole series of a graphic novel (comic book) and any marketing stuff that needs to go with it for a re-release. To start with I looked at the different kinds of comics that I could re-release, looking mainly at ones that I familiar with and that I actually like.
I came up with a short list, but a list nonetheless:

-The Sandman
-Preacher
-Sin City
-Lucifer
-The Boys

After picking this list I got straight into coming up with some ideas, starting with the Sandman series of comics by Neil Gaiman.

I looked at the kinds of things that the series is about, which put simply is a group of 7 god-like siblings who live in the DC universe (With comic book heroes like Batman and the Justice League) who run certain aspects of humans lives. I looked a little bit at the different kinds of symbols that could be used to represent the comics and the characters and at the existing covers for the comics (seen on design context).

At this point I pretty much exclusively decided to pick this series as my main focus. It is my favourite graphic novel series by a long shot so it will be interesting to work with and I have quite a good understanding of what it is about, as well as the fact that I wanted to decide on a focus quickly  so that I could get on with working.
