The width of the pull-out and envelope is 5mm so I needed 5mm worth of frames in thickness.
I worked this out at around 16 sheets of quite thick paper/card which will be better for flicking than thin paper. So I knew I had about 16 frames to work with (give or take a few).
I started by making some frames the right size and then drawing on them. I started from the finished annecy logo and worked backwards:

Next I took it into illustrator and gave it the same style that the current logo has
and worked frame by frame to create each step of the animation.
I then took each frame into Flash and just lined them up and checked that the animation works.
One good thing about this animation is that it could be used for web purposes just as an actual logo/animation combination. It could do with a few more frames to make it smoother, as I had to make sure it fitted into just 16 or so.
