Mailshot design

After working out teh dimensions of the mailshot and testing that it worked, I started actually designing it. i wanted to link it to the theme and the style of the rest of the brief so i kept the same colours and stroke-less design.
I quickly had the idea of creating a tree like effect through the mailshot. for example, the outside layer is the leaves, the inside pull-out is the trunk and when opened it shows the inside of the trunk.
I started by making the leaves layer using the same leaf colour.

Next I made the inside of the pullout using rings to make a wood grain effect.

The bark effect here was exactly the same as used in the logo development.

Finally I made a sticker that can be used to seal the envelope.

I printed out roughly and put it all together and it worked pretty nicely. For the final print I think I will use recycled paper to fit with the deforestation theme of the festival. After asking in the library i was told that both the newsprint and heavy newsprint are recycled paper so i will probably test with the heavier newsprint as it will be denser and make a stronger mailshot.
