Comic Brief: Development

To develop the comic brief further I've looked at some more starting points. I'm starting to focus on the design of the covers at the moment.

I started by getting down some ideas about possible type and kinds of symbols that could be used as well as an idea about an illustrative route. After this I looked a bit more at the kind of type to be used on the covers. I wanted it to be an old, gothic kind of typeface to represent the old/ancient aspect of the narrative. I based the type on blackletter typefaces for the gothic look.

I tried experimenting with a few different ideas to represent age and deterioration but I'm not that happy with any of the ones above.

After this I started looking to try and make the type look old in a way that kept it's exact same character structure (no deterioration) but still looked old and ancient by making it look kind of overgrown.
I liked this result a lot more so I'll use it and work with it for now.
