Stock Selection

To start with I tested printing a cover on slightly heavier matt card stock to see how the matt finish would work with the comic cover design. The way it looked was ok, although the dullness of the paper wasn't really that reminiscent of conventional comics. The biggest problem was the folding of the cover, as the matt stock cracks when folded (see below image). In fact, pretty much all of the stocks crack when they are folded. To deal with this, I used the laminator to laminate just one side of the covers which is consistent with the existing comics. It creates a really strange texture as well which is kind of grainy, supporting the old/cracked kind of look of the designs.
